Right now we are definitely in the “Sunday” of the summer. We have less than 20 days of camp, about 4 more weeks until school begins, and I know in other parts of the country, school has started or is about to start. I can’t believe its August already!

July was filled with lots of fun for the Momma To Go Family – a trip to Atlantic City to celebrate the Fourth, many hours spent at the beach and pool, and a great first session of camp! I have somehow managed to keep up this blog by working on it in the mornings, evenings, and weekends. And I am especially thankful for all the great guest posts I have had this month.

I am so excited to have another guest author today – Divya from Eat, Teach, Blog! I “met” Divya through a Facebook Social Media group and her site caught my eye because she often writes about travel, lives in a teeny tiny town (which I found interesting) and is like me, a former teacher. When I saw her series on a recent European River Cruise, I actually invited her to submit her story for the Momma To Go readers.

I know for me, family travel does not always mean me and my kids. As you know I went to Italy last March with a few of my favorite family members – my aunt, uncle and sister. And for some folks, friends mean family (kinda like #thegirlfriends). So whoever you hold near and dear, plan a trip, but here are some awesome tips for traveling with extended family:

48 Hours in...

One of my most popular posts is my 48 Hours in … Atlantic City recap of our winter trip to the city by the sea. Atlantic City is one of our family’s favorite destinations, and I have been going there since I was a kid. I know it well and always have fun! And on this recent trip, I didn’t even gamble! There was no time! There were so many other great things to do!

If you have never been, Atlantic City is located about 90 miles south of New York City and about an hour east of Philadelphia. There is a small airport nearby, but is most easily accessed by car. Atlantic City is a boardwalk town on a barrier island, meaning there is an ocean beach to the east and a bay to the west. One of the big attractions is the casinos, but especially in recent years the big hotels have begun to offer other amenities besides gaming. And in the summer, the beach is always fun! So come with me for ANOTHER 48 Hours in… Atlantic City.

In this house, we love the Lego Brand. We actually just got the Lego Batman Movie DVD (and watched it on a recent car trip) and we were so lucky to have visited Legoland Florida twice this past winter and the Legoland Florida water park in the summer. I do miss my New York family that migrated south to Orlando, but having cousins in Florida does have its perks! So us Lego-lovers were so excited to be invited to revisit the Legoland Discovery Center in Westchester, New York to spend a day riding, building and exploring!

I am so excited to have another guest post by Claire Hastings. I personally have a love/hate relationship with packing. I am efficient, but would not call myself a minimalist by any means! If you are curious how I pack, click here. But read through for Claire’s awesome tips on how to pack when space is at a premium!

My family loves amusement parks and my kids love rides. They also can’t get enough of the pool! So I knew this summer we wanted to try a full-on water park for the first time. This week we decided to venture to Splish Splash water park in Long Island, New York for an awesome day of water rides! UPDATE: Excited to say this has become a yearly tradition! One of our favorite summer activities for sure!
