Stuff I Love, Travel

We travel as a way to spend time as a family. We travel to see the world and know that there is more to life than our tiny slice of it. We love long trips, like our three weeks in Hawaii, short, local getaways like our night in Dutchess County, or annual trips to our favorite winter spot, Southwest Florida. No matter near or far, short or long, each trip is special to our family. As cheesy as it sounds, the memories we create on these trips will last a lifetime.

Our trip to Montreal was so fun, and I still can’t believe we could drive to from New York to Montreal in less than seven hours! Driving sure beat the price of flying a whole family up there and the ride was really easy. I love that in a short road trip, we could be transported to a completely different country and culture. I learned a lot about driving into Canada and I’m excited to share my tips for Americans visiting Canada, especially the French speaking city of Montreal.

Stuff I Love

I love sharing my destination guides and travel tips for taking kids around the world! But I also love introducing my readers to fun things they can do close to home. Unless you are a full-time travel family (and I have met many through blogging and social media) you are spending more time at home than traveling. For that reason, I like to have lots of activities in my back pocket to tuck away for a holiday or weekend day when we are just hanging on Long Island. Over the last year, we have been introduced to roller skating and it has quickly become my kids’ favorite indoor activity! So I am super excited to share with you some more info on the best place to go roller skating on Long Island and why I know you will love roller skating too!

Add roller skating to your list of favorite indoor activities. Check out the best place to roller skate on Long Island, United Skates in Seaford. Celebrate National Roller Skating month with special discounts! #RollerSkating #LongIsland #KidsActivities

I will be spending the next year as a United Skates Social Media ambassador. Our previous experiences at United Skates have been not sponsored. As always, opinions are all my own.

The holidays are right around the corner, and maybe you’re one of the millions of Americans traveling to spend them with family. Traveling can be stressful, especially if you have small kids in tow. Whether flying or driving, there are things you can do to make your trip a lot less unnerving and a lot more fun.

As many of you know, summer, surprisingly, is not our big family travel time. The kids go to a local day camp (which they love) and I work there as well. So instead of jet setting around the globe, I spend the summer chasing around a group of 4-year old boys! And I wouldn’t have it any other way! The one thing I don’t love about camp is that it does consume almost our whole summer.

ALMOST.

We had about 10 days after camp, before school started to do some traveling. Last summer we did an epic California road trip, complete with stops in San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Buellton and Disneyland. Unfortunately, that trip didn’t end so well… but that didn’t stop us from wanting to travel again this August!

For this summer trip, I really wanted to go somewhere we have never been. I did want to spend some of these ten days at home, just enjoying Long Island, so we didn’t want to go somewhere too far, or expensive. So, after much consideration, we chose to drive up to Montreal for five days. This was such a great trip and I am so excited to share with you all the fun things to do in Montreal with Kids!

SPOILER: THERE ARE TONS OF GREAT THINGS TO DO IN MONTREAL WITH THE LITTLE ONES!

I love traveling with my kids, but every once in a while, it’s nice for parents to leave the kids at home (with grandparents, of course) and getaway for a night or two. This summer, we were so lucky to be invited to visit the Borgata Atlantic City for one night in July! Needless to say, we had the best time and the Borgata AC is literally the most perfect place for a kid-free vacation.

My husband was comped a room for one night and two fly Borgata flights from Long Island to Atlantic City. I was lucky to be his travel partner. As always, all opinions are my own.

I know that visiting the United States is a bucket list item for many international travelers. But the US is so diverse – politically, geographically, culturally. This country is known as the “melting pot” and that is for sure true! So how do you plan your visit to the United States? There is so much to see and do. Now I’m sure you’ve read up plenty on visiting the most popular places like New York City, Los Angeles and Walt Disney World. But today, I want to share my favorite off the beaten path United States destinations!

Fitness

I love running. It’s honestly one of the easiest workouts. Where I live, I can just slap on my sneakers, head out the door and hit one of my favorite running routes. I have a beautiful (and hilly) preserve right near my house, and in bad weather there is always the gym and treadmill. I love signing up for races, even just your local 5K to have a training goal in mind. I also love that running, as a workout, requires minimal effort to get started, and you do not need a ton of equipment. But there are some essentials that will make your training even easier, so I am so excited to share my list of must have running gear.

The post was sponsored by BODYARMOR. As always, all opinions are my own.

Stuff I Love

Hi friends – this summer is flying by! I’ve been a little quiet here and on my social media because I have been working at camp all summer. I am a head counselor for a group of 4-year old boys! Needless to say, its kept me on my toes! Working at camp has also kept me super exhausted! Each day I spent an hour or so before camp working on a few new posts and engaging on social media. I’ve also been making a long to-do list to help me when I can get back to full time blogging in the fall!

Cruise, Travel

A few months ago, the Momma To Go Family took an amazing 7-day Holland America Cruise aboard the ms Veendam. We travel a lot, and for us, this was a true vacation! But because we were hitting the high seas (without a Wal-Mart around the corner) I really, really spent a lot of time researching everything we needed to bring! And it is true, if you realize mid-cruise you need something, you are either going to be out of luck, or have to pay a premium in the cruise gift shop. We ended up having everything we needed (and not much more) so I am so excited to share with you my cruise packing list and the best cruise packing hacks!
