I love traveling with my kids, but every once in a while, it’s nice for parents to leave the kids at home (with grandparents, of course) and getaway for a night or two. This summer, we were so lucky to be invited to visit the Borgata Atlantic City for one night in July! Needless to say, we had the best time and the Borgata AC is literally the most perfect place for a kid-free vacation.
My husband was comped a room for one night and two fly Borgata flights from Long Island to Atlantic City. I was lucky to be his travel partner. As always, all opinions are my own.
Atlantic City Getaways for Couples with Fly Borgata
Now earlier this summer, I wrote a post answering a question I get all the time– what is there to do with kids in Atlantic City – and there are lots. But AC is a town built on casinos, nightlife and fine dining. Not only is Atlantic City the perfect weekend destination for a getaway without kids, the Borgata Hotel should be your go-to for this type of trip.
On our trip, I did see some kids at the Borgata. We visited on a weekend in summer, but honestly, there were very few little ones. The Borgata AC is located off the boardwalk, away from the beach and all the Atlantic City attractions your little ones will enjoy. A trip to Borgata is more reminiscent of a stay in Las Vegas, verses a day at the Jersey Shore.
Borgata AC Hotel
The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa opened in Atlantic City in 2003. This property for sure offers a cosmopolitan, luxury experience for Atlantic City goers.
The Borgata is located on the Northeast end of the island, with no direct beach access. In 2008, a second tower, the Water Club was added, offering a second spa and an additional 800 hotel rooms.
Hubby and I stayed in a room in the main casino tower. Our room had a king bed, and all of your standard hotel amenities. The bathroom was huge with a separate toilet closet, a stand-up shower and a big vanity. I definitely enjoyed an afternoon nap after a kid-free afternoon at the pool! Overall, the rooms here are luxurious and comfortable!

Borgata AC Adults Only Pool
There are two pools at the Borgata, one is an indoor pool located on the sixth floor of the main casino tower (the spa is located here as well). The outdoor pool is located on the east end of the property.
The outdoor pool was actually a little tricky to find at first. You have to head down the corridor, past the food court, and out the doors like you are exiting the property. Then you will see a small sign directing you to your left, to the outdoor pool.
The outdoor pool is adults (21 and older) only. They check you in when you arrive, and give you a bracelet. Use of chairs and towels are free for hotel guests. There were daybeds and cabanas for rent. Umbrellas were scattered throughout and seemed to be on a first come, first served basis.
The day we went was warm and sunny, the perfect pool day!
The outdoor pool is adjacent to the Beer Garden, which offers a bar and sit-down service. At the pool, servers come to take your food and drink orders. We spent the day eating and drinking, alternating between laying out and going in the pool. This was literally the perfect kid-free summer activity of day drinking and lounging.
We spent the whole day of Saturday at the pool and a good part of Sunday as well!
NOTE: The outdoor pool at the Borgata AC is seasonal and open in the summer months only.
Borgata Atlantic City Restaurants
The Borgata Hotel and Casino really is all-inclusive. We stayed the entire time on property. We ate our first meal on Saturday at the pool. There they offered burgers, sandwiches and various appetizers. I was pleased to see they had a vegetarian wrap and some other healthy options!
You know, to balance out the alcohol!
For dinner, we ate at Wolfgang Puck American Grille. It was a great meal start to finish! Located right off the casino, but with the cool California décor you would expect from a Wolfgang Puck restaurant.
This dinner was a highlight of our trip. To start I had an amazing beet salad, and for an entrée went for an agnolotti with truffles! The wine was delicious and service was top-notch.
Other fine dining options include Old Homestead Steak House, Bobby Flay Steak, Izakaya, and Angeline. I also love that you can make your reservations right through the Borgata website!
For breakfast on Sunday morning we headed downstairs to the Metropolitan Café. Other breakfast options include Starbucks and Bread + Butter. I like the ease of having on-site options in the morning. At home we never go out for breakfast, but on the rare occasion we are kid-free I love having a leisurely breakfast!
On Sunday, before departing, we opted to grab something quick in the gourmet food court, located on the lower level. This was a great, fast option with many different offerings!
Borgata AC Nightlife
Let’s be honest, no trip to Atlantic City is complete without pressing your luck in the casinos! The casino at the Borgata AC is modern and spacious. The casino constitutes much of the main floor. On the Saturday night we visited, we had no problem finding availability at the games we wanted to play. Unfortunately, lady luck was not on our side, but we did have fun trying to win!
After our unsuccessful run at the blackjack table, we weren’t quite ready to call it a night, so we headed to the Gypsy Bar, where we stumbled upon an amazing band and a great crowd.
Gypsy Bar offers nightly live music! On the night of our visit the band was doing an incredible assortment of 90’s cover songs. We were super impressed by the range of the singer, belting out classics like “Killing me Softly” and then switching gears to the Barenaked Ladies! The place was packed and the crowd was dancing, and enjoying the music.
The night we stayed at the Borgata, Jerry Seinfeld was the headliner in the Event Center. The following night it was Camila Cabello! Shows for every taste, along with the Premier nightclub, there is nightlife for all at the Borgata Atlantic City!
Fly Borgata
Even if you don’t think you will be a frequent Borgata AC visitor, sign up for the M-life rewards card and use it when you play at the slots or table games. Your play will get you comps at the hotel, including free nights and possible comp dollars to use at the restaurants and shops.
On this trip, in addition to a free hotel night, and about $70 in food credits, hubby and a guest (which was me!) were invited to fly down to Borgata from the Republic Airport in Farmingdale, NY. This is part of their new Fly Borgata program!
This airport does not fly commercial flights, so it was a fun and exciting experience for us! We flew on a 30 seater Ultimate Air Shuttle jet. The flight itself was about 25 minutes, compared to over 3 hours in summer, Jersey shore traffic!
As part of the Fly Borgata experience, when we landed in Atlantic City, we were provided shuttle bus transfer to the hotel. We arrived at the Borgata around 11am and were able to check into our room right away.
On Sunday, we were offered a late, 3pm check out in anticipation of our 3:15 shuttle bus to the airport. Door to door, from the Borgata lobby to my parents house in Melville (to pick up our kids) took exactly 2 hours. It was amazing and definitely the preferred way to travel to the Borgata AC!
If you are looking for an awesome grown-ups getaway, even if you aren’t a big gambler, I HIGHLY recommend a stay at the Borgata Atlantic City. I can guarantee you will have a super fun, and relaxing time!

Well I have a new destination and hotel for my bucket list! What a fabulous place and great post!
Sounds like a wonderful place.. ANy place with great restaurants is on my go to place.
That looks like an amazing getaway! Ah, I totally need to travel more!
This place looks awesome! The pools look wonderful, and the breakfast looks so good. I’m taking a weekend with my husband in a couple of weeks. It’s just to the lake, but we are looking forward to it. It’s important to make your relationship a priority!
I can’t remember that last time I had a staycation. My favorite getaway is going to the beach, no social media (or with minimal usage of the phone), just enjoying the nature and the beach! Or sometimes staying in a hotel for a night or two 🙂 Borgata seems like an excellent place to stay in!
Good to know that in a few years after the infant stages of my boys’ lives that us parents can get away on a break like this. I’ll probably spend the next few years thinking about it and planning it too!
yeah my kids were not good sleepers as infants, so not something we did until they were at least sleeping thru the night!
Sometimes a kid-free vacation is exactly what you need! Looks like an awesome time!
I’ve never been! Sounds totally fun. And a quick, easy trip.
Is that a chihuly sculpture? Every time I see one, I feel like it is going to be a good trip. I like how many restaurants they have available, it seems like it would be perfect for a relaxing weekend away.
I was wondering the same. I think it might be something to do with Murano in venice… need to google that!
live music is always good- even if it is to drown your sorrows loosing in the casino haha!
I love the Borgata. It is definitely the best casino in A/C. So neat you got to fly there, that sounds so much better than the other alternatives.
We are going back to AC, with kids, so we choose to stay on the boardwalk, but I do think the Borgata is a step up from the other places.
This sounds amazing! We have yet to do a kid-free trip and since our eldest will be six this year, we are long overdue! This hotel looks like the perfect place for adults only!
yes, i highly recommend it. when baby girl was little one night we went to the local marriott just to get away!
Sounds like a really fun couple getaway! The nightlife sure does sound fun and I love the look of that outdoor pool. 😉 What lovely perks from the M-Life Rewards Card too.
i need some more time at that pool right now!
Borgata is my favorite place to stay at in AC! So many great shops too!
we didnt even shop!
I love the Chihuly glass!!!!
I’ve heard great things about Borgata! Seems like your experience was pretty fabulous.
That looks like a good time. Nice hotel too!
Great post! I am a pilot and have never heard of the Ultimate Air Shuttle. The rest of the resort looks nice as well.

This place looks amazing. I would love a getaway 🙂 Thanks for sharing last week with us at The Weekend Blog Hop #Weekendbloghop
