‘Tis the season for travel… oh wait, I mean gift giving! Since we are a traveling family, I always think to get practical gifts for my kids that they can use on our many adventures. I always ask for travel related items as well. Of course, I value experiences over things and somehow plane tickets ALWAYS end up in my stocking! Since we are well-versed in travel and I love sharing the best travel stuff, I’m so excited to share my best gifts for traveling families.
The Best Gifts for Traveling Families
Travel Gift Ideas for Her
Scratch off Map. Last year my mom got me this scratch off map, and it was my favorite gift of the entire year! I love having it hanging in my office (I love staring at maps and I do feel like every travel agent’s office should have a big map)
Chester Suitcase. You can read my full review of the Chester Minima. We were gifted this product, but love it!
Compression Packing Cubes. These packing cubes that compress to almost flat are on my list for this year. My friend/client told me about these – she is using them to go to Australia for two weeks with CARRY -ON luggage only!
Anker portable charger. I got this portable charger last year and it’s a MUST HAVE for travelers! It charges your devices so fast.
Vacation Countdown. There are so many great vacation countdowns out there! With our first Disney Cruise about three months away, I’d love to get one of these!
Personalized Yeti Tumbler. I was gifted this yeti tumbler last year, and I love it! I use it often when on the go, and at home to brew an ALTO pod in my Nespresso!
Travel gift ideas for Him
Laptop backpack. My husband has this backpack and he loves it. I like it because its sleek and modern.
Priority Pass Membership. We have the AMEX platinum, so we have priority pass and lounge access worldwide. Once you go lounge, you can’t go back! The end of the year is a great time to get deals on lounge passes!
Backpack cooler. We always travel with a cooler, and use one all summer at the beach and pool. I think I am getting this backpack cooler for hubby this year (PSTT don’t tell!)
Travel Gifts for Kids
Around the world coloring books. When my kids were smaller, these map coloring books were our go-to in our carry on for long flights! On a related note, my son is acing his fifth grade geography work!
Personalized luggage. My son has the cutest personalized suitcase from Pottery Barn Kids. He’s had this for nine years and it still looks brand new!
Cute luggage sets. My daughter has the cutest unicorn rolling suitcase. Any of these would be perfect for you traveling kid!
Car DVD player. We do lots of road trips, and our car does not have one of those fancy built in entertainment systems. However, on long car rides, we plug this in and its movie time! A car DVD player was ESSENTIAL when we drove from New York to Florida back in 2018!
Kindles or iPad. Our kids are iPad kids, but I know lots of families love the kindle for the little ones. Essential for any trip!
Bluetooth headphones. Our kids have graduated to Bluetooth headphones. The ones that sit on your ears, not ear buds. We use these for travel (there is a wire to connect them to the airplane jack) and at home!
Experiences. Sometimes the best things don’t quite fit under the tree. We love to give something in an envelope which is an experience, something for all of us to enjoy!
Experience gift ideas include:
- A night at an indoor water park
- A special experience/daytrip. For us ideas would include a visit to the National Geographic Ocean Odyssey in NYC, the show Pip’s Island would be perfect for younger kids, a day at Legoland Discover Center or a trip to the American Girl Cafe!
- A trip to Walt Disney World – which is easy when you use my FREE Disney Vacation planning services
- Book a Cruise – this is such a great way to enjoy something as a family! We love cruising
- Gift cards to the movies, Dave and Buster’s, Chuck E. Cheese, etc.
- Annual passes to your favorite children’s museum, science museum, local amusement park or local water park. Our local water park, Splish Splash Long Island always has great annual pass sales this time of year as does the Legoland theme parks!
The best gifts are the ones that come in the form of tickets – airline, cruise, Disney, etc. Need help planning a gift everyone will love? Then reach out for my FREE travel planning help! I can get you booked in time to make someones holiday wish come true!
Travel Gifts for Cruisers
For more cruise inspired items, check out my cruise packing list! If your family, or one on your shopping list loves to cruise, here are some great gift ideas.
Lanyards. I love wearing a cruise lanyard while cruising and you can get all different designs!
Euro adapters. This is an important gift for any traveling family – but I always bring my European outlet adapter when I cruise. This will enable you to have one more usable outlet – and on some ships that might mean doubling the number of cabin outlets!
Disney magnet. I just got this door magnet for our upcoming cruise on the Disney Wonder! What a fun way to get excited for a sailing.
Cruise tumblers. What a fun way to keep your beverage warm or cold! I love these funny cruise themed tumblers.
Gifts for the Italy Lover

I cannot wait to give (and receive) some of these great gifts! What are your favorite travel inspired gifts to give?
