Over Christmas break, I wanted to take the kids into the city to see the tree in Rockefeller Center. But I also wanted to do something else, something new (new to us at least) and different. I looked into the three pop-ups that are currently going on, Candytopia, Color Factory and the Trolls Experience. Honestly, we went to Trolls because it was the one of the three that wasn’t sold out for our date and it was close to Rockefeller Center. We had a great time at the Trolls Experience NYC and I’m excited to share our review with you.

This fall has been so hectic, I’ve been tutoring a ton, working hard on the blog, and with my son playing travel soccer, it feels like we have been on the run since school started. With some random fall days off, Election Day & Veterans Day specifically, I wanted to plan a little getaway where we could have fun, spend time together and maximize the small break from our daily activities!

Since my kids have been begging, I mean BEGGING, to go to an indoor water park, I knew a night at Great Wolf Lodge Poconos PA would be the perfect destination for this fall break!

As the cold weather arrives here in New York, I had been looking at a warm weather getaway with baby girl. It’s her turn for a trip with mommy, since little man took the last mommy trip, going to Dutchess County with me. A few weeks ago, I saw some of the airlines were having sales (which I believe makes prices come down across the board) and I found two tickets from JFK to Orlando for less than $200 each!

Sadly, we hesitated on buying them. Baby girl was on the fence about not wanting to miss stuff at home to go to Orlando, and by the time I convinced her to go with me, the sale had ended and the fares had gone up.

WAY UP!

I feel like this is a familiar tale – do I book? Not book? Wait? Will prices go up? Go down? Will there be another sale?

It’s really hard to ever know if you are getting the best prices when booking travel. Except for one weekend a year when you can know you are getting great sales. When is that?

Let me share.

Stuff I Love, Travel

We travel as a way to spend time as a family. We travel to see the world and know that there is more to life than our tiny slice of it. We love long trips, like our three weeks in Hawaii, short, local getaways like our night in Dutchess County, or annual trips to our favorite winter spot, Southwest Florida. No matter near or far, short or long, each trip is special to our family. As cheesy as it sounds, the memories we create on these trips will last a lifetime.

Our trip to Montreal was so fun, and I still can’t believe we could drive to from New York to Montreal in less than seven hours! Driving sure beat the price of flying a whole family up there and the ride was really easy. I love that in a short road trip, we could be transported to a completely different country and culture. I learned a lot about driving into Canada and I’m excited to share my tips for Americans visiting Canada, especially the French speaking city of Montreal.

As many of you know, summer, surprisingly, is not our big family travel time. The kids go to a local day camp (which they love) and I work there as well. So instead of jet setting around the globe, I spend the summer chasing around a group of 4-year old boys! And I wouldn’t have it any other way! The one thing I don’t love about camp is that it does consume almost our whole summer.

ALMOST.

We had about 10 days after camp, before school started to do some traveling. Last summer we did an epic California road trip, complete with stops in San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Buellton and Disneyland. Unfortunately, that trip didn’t end so well… but that didn’t stop us from wanting to travel again this August!

For this summer trip, I really wanted to go somewhere we have never been. I did want to spend some of these ten days at home, just enjoying Long Island, so we didn’t want to go somewhere too far, or expensive. So, after much consideration, we chose to drive up to Montreal for five days. This was such a great trip and I am so excited to share with you all the fun things to do in Montreal with Kids!

I love traveling with my kids, but every once in a while, it’s nice for parents to leave the kids at home (with grandparents, of course) and getaway for a night or two. This summer, we were so lucky to be invited to visit the Borgata Atlantic City for one night in July! Needless to say, we had the best time and the Borgata AC is literally the most perfect place for a kid-free vacation.
