Winter is here in New York, so our next trip to Hawaii has been on my brain. Last year we were fortunate enough to spend three weeks traveling to Maui and the Big Island. I’d say from the minute we flew back home, we have been mentally planning our next visit! Since I so often get asked about Hawaii trips, I am sharing with you how to plan a trip to Hawaii.

I’m pretty reserved, and normally wouldn’t brag about being an expert in anything but one thing I can say I have down pat!

Beach Packing.

I am definitely an expert in getting a family ready for the beach and on to the sand!

Little man has a March birthday, and I started taking him to the beach his very first summer. When he was 5 months old, we spent a week at the Outer Banks with #thegirlfriends. We are so lucky to travel often to Atlantic City, NJ and Naples, FL; and to have spent last August in Hawaii. But we are even luckier that we live a 10-minute drive from an Atlantic Ocean beach!

Let’s face it, a long flight with a young one is not anyone’s favorite part of a trip. A means to an end, yes, but I know that my kids are a total crapshoot when it comes to enjoying a long flight. It’s been over a year since we have traveled to Hawaii and not a day goes by where we don’t talk about that trip! It was truly amazing in every way you dream about a 3-week trip to this magical state. For me, the biggest highlight of the vacation was the incredible Big Island beaches.

A vacation to Hawaii took a lot of planning and I wanted to get the most out of our time on each island. Planning Your Maui Family Vacation

If you have been following along, you know that our family was so fortunate to spend three weeks in Hawaii last summer. We visited Maui and The Big Island with our two kids, age 4 and 7. Needless to say, we had an awesome time. Most of my planning was done by searching Pinterest for family friendly blog posts offering advice of “must-dos” on the islands. I compiled a list of things that sounded interesting (and brought a 2016 Fodor’s Hawaii with us) and made our way through the many awesome things to in Maui. We also discovered other great things and I am thrilled to share my best tips for your Maui Family Vacation!

Our family vacations tend toward the more laid back. We are a sit-on-the-beach and relax kind of family rather than a sightseeing clan. Our trip to Hawaii was no exception. Pre-trip we did outline some cool things to see and do, but our intention was to Live Like A Local for three weeks in the paradise that is Hawaii. The only big activity that we planned made us both excited and nervous. We had plans to Drive the Road To Hana with kids.

I am so excited to write my first travel related post here on Momma To Go.
