Happy May everyone! The end of April has me super excited because I hit OVER 1500 page views for the month, way exceeding my goal of 1000! Almost doubling my March numbers! I have been putting in a lot more time to my site and am super proud of some of my April posts such as A Day in Verona, the Best Big Island Beaches and a review of our trip to The Museum of Mathematics! I also wrote my first guest post for 101 Food Travel, an article about the amazing cooking class we took in Northern Italy. You can read that here.

So I guess my favorite thing this month was my readers (that’s you!) but I still have an actual list of Stuff I have been loving this month.

Hawaii, Travel

It’s been over a year since we have traveled to Hawaii and not a day goes by where we don’t talk about that trip! It was truly amazing in every way you dream about a 3-week trip to this magical state. For me, the biggest highlight of the vacation was the incredible Big Island beaches.

A vacation to Hawaii took a lot of planning and I wanted to get the most out of our time on each island. I am so indebted to all the great blogs I read (check out my Hawaii Pinterest board for all things Aloha) and as always to Fodor’s Hawaii  for helping me plan our activities. I am so excited to share our best tips and help other folks plan their awesome Hawaiian adventures! Since launching this site, I have written about the best Maui activities, and a great itinerary if you are traveling the Road to Hana. In this post I am excited to share the best Big Island beaches.

This spring, my kids had quite the long spring break – 7 days off of school! I’m not going to lie, I looked into going back to Naples or Orlando, but the flights were so astronomical. We had an overnight planned but the remaining days we spent close to home, a stay-cation if you will. I had planned out several activities that I knew my kids would like (and wrote about them here). On the last day of vacation, we planned a day trip to Manhattan to see dad’s office, have a fancy lunch and to visit the Museum of Mathematics.

For my fortieth birthday, my sister, aunt, uncle and I headed to Northern Italy for a week of sightseeing, eating and celebrating. We were based in the small town of Lecco, situated on Lake Como. Each day we ventured out on various trips, and my favorite was our Verona Day Trip.

About Me

sunshine blogger award mommatogo.com

I stumbled up Wellington World Travels through a Travel Blogger Facebook Group I am a part of. I clicked the link to this story on Why Traveling with Kids with is Worthwhile, and was immediately sucked in to their posts. Handel and Carmen are ex-pats, living in Qatar with their super adorable son, Charles. I love that they admit they love to share their travels, but aren’t too keen on lots of writing, so they do what they know- share their love of the world through beautiful photographs.

I am so honored to be nominated by them for the Sunshine Blogger Award!

About Me

In my first post, I mentioned how last June I left formal teaching. At that point I wasn’t sure what I would be doing professionally, but this school year I fell into some subbing and a lot of tutoring – which I love. I do miss teaching math, but I honestly don’t miss the long hours, difficult parents & students, and the endless pile of work and grading.  Tutoring affords a good balance of a part-time schedule, the opportunity to work one-on-one with students and to really see their progress. And it gives me more time to be with my family, travel and work on Momma To Go!

So when EDUCATION.COM approached me to partner with them on getting the word out on some of their kids’ math activities, it seemed like a great opportunity! I am all about active learning and fun activities with my little ones. When an activity can be educational – well, thats a win/win!

This spring we will be so busy with the kids’ sports (baseball and golf), special occasions (Communion, Mother’s Day, family birthdays) and end of school events. I literally just sat down with my Cozi app, school calendar and sports schedules to see if I could get ahead of the game! So this upcoming week, when the kids are off for Easter and Passover, I am super excited  to have whole days available to plan fun local outings! I am also super excited to share my best things to do with Kids on Long Island list. Save this for spring break, summer vacation or a weekend where you have nothing else planned!

Spring is here and March was a great month! I went to North Carolina for a long weekend to celebrate Grandpa’s 105th birthday, and then spent a week in Italy to ring in my 40th. Little man turned 8 and well, spring in the air!

Here is what I have been loving this month:

I love getting ready for a new adventure- researching a new destination, the excitement before heading out on vacation. What I don’t love to do before a trip – packing. I mean it’s a necessity of course! I find it takes longer than I want it to and I just want it to be done. But I have found a few shortcuts over the years that have made the process more efficient and more foolproof. I am so excited to share my best vacation packing tips!
