Loyal readers know I am a SW FL lover! In normal times we visit the area 2+ times a year, and during the pandemic, we spent the summer of 2020 in North Naples, Florida. I am always loving learning about new things to do and places to stay. Baby girl and I were so excited to be invited to check out the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown and I know you will love this property for your next Southwest Florida vacation!
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown hosted baby girl and I for a fabulous stay. As always, all opinions are my own.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown 5th Avenue: Low Price, High Quality Hotel in Naples Florida
Naples, Florida is a fabulous place to vacation. There are so many great things to do with kids, unique activities for grown-ups, amazing outdoor dining and some of the best beaches in the world.
The one downside to a Naples vacation, especially in the high-season of January – May, is lodging here can be very expensive. Beachfront hotels are going to run $400+ bucks a night.
Ouch.
For those who don’t want to blow their whole vacation budget on a few nights’ hotel stay, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown is the perfect choice. Guests will compromise on nothing, but save a ton of money! It’s really one of the best resorts in Naples!
Where is the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown?
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown is located within walking distance to the shops and restaurants of Naples’ famous 5th Avenue South. The hotel is about a 30-minute ride from Southwest Florida Airport, and about 45 minutes from Everglades National Park.
From this south Naples location, you can easily access Marco Island , Everglades City or take a day trip to Keewaydin Island.
The hotel is located just east of Route 41, and is also close to Tin City, the Naples Botanical Garden and the Celebration Food Trucks, making this hotel the perfect launching point for so much SW Florida fun.
Rooms at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown has 124 rooms ranging from standard rooms to one-bedroom suites.
Each room is well equipped with an HD LCD TV, a refrigerator, microwave, wireless internet and an in-room coffee maker featuring Smart Roast 100% Arabic coffee. For larger families, there are connecting rooms available.
In the bathroom, the SimplySmart™ shower incorporates a proprietary Stay Smart™ Kohler shower head, signature shower curtain with curved rod. Upgraded 100 percent cotton terry towels and Bath & Body Works White Citrus bath products are also included.
We LOVED the SimplySmart™ bedding collection, and 200 thread-count sheets.
I slept so well!
On our visit, baby girl and I stayed in a Pool View One-Bedroom Suite. Our room would be perfect for extended stays or families. If you are nervous about a hotel stay during the pandemic, the kitchenette and dining room would be the perfect spot to enjoy some take out or breakfast in your suite.
Our room had a separate bedroom with a king size bed and a great view of the pool area. Be sure to look out the window at night! You will see the area lit up so beautifully. To me, its attention to these types of details that makes a property really shine!

Enhanced Cleaning Protocols at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown
Staying in a hotel during a pandemic can be a scary thought. But after learning about IHG’s clean promise, I was not afraid at all! I keep saying, there has never been a better time to travel, in terms of cleanliness!
Baby girl and I visited the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown in July 2020, so in the midst of the pandemic. Collier County only recently required face masks indoors, but IHG requires them in in all public areas. This is a great way to keep guests (and staff) safe, and build a consistent message across state and county lines.
As for enhanced cleaning protocols, they have partnered with Ecolab and Diversey to ensure their cleaning standards are in line with the World Health Organization and CDC guidelines.
They put together a great video that sure gets me excited to travel – go ahead, see for yourself!

When we arrived, the front desk noted that our room had just been sanitized and offered us any sanitizing wipes we thought we needed. I was confident in the cleanliness, but I appreciated the offer.
Around the hotel, plexiglass barriers keep the workers safe and social distancing reminders are seen throughout.
Unfortunately, the hotel cannot offer their amazing hot buffet breakfast at this time, but they had a great grab and go option. All you had to do was go down to the lobby, there was a sign explaining your choices, and you could request whatever you wanted. Then the front desk attendant put together a gift bag for you of everything you selected. Complete with milks, juices and utensils.
In the lobby, there was self-serve coffee, juice and water available. Guests could eat their food in their rooms, in the lobby area or at one of the outdoor tables by the pool.
Our Stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown – A Mother/Daughter Getaway
Baby girl and I were so excited to visit the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown. With its fabulous pool, and proximity to downtown, it was the perfect home base for our mother/daughter getaway.
We arrived at the hotel on a Wednesday afternoon, right around 2pm. We drove down, and I was so glad that self-parking is complimentary at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown. Even though you can explore many places on foot, you will probably want to rent a car if you are flying into SW Florida.
After getting checked in and unpacked, we went down to hit the pool. We had the whole pool area to ourselves, so we set up in a cabana, and spent about an hour swimming together. I love watching baby girl do her pool gymnastics (a popular activity for my kids this summer). We used the hot tub as well – I did let baby girl stick her toes in!
After a relaxing time at the pool, we headed up to the room to relax and shower. We loved the J.R. Watkins products in the bathroom, they smelled so good!
Around 5PM, we drove over to Tin City to do some shopping. I mean what’s a girls’ trip without some shopping? You could EASILY walk to Tin City from the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown (its half a mile) BUT baby girl HATES walking, so we took the car.
Tin City is a fun little shopping, dining and marina area. There are some cute souvenir shops and one of our favorites is the Naples Soap Company. Definitely check out these incredible bath products if you are in this area. This is a local business (although I learned they ship nationwide). We bought some bath bombs, lotion and bath oil. The fragrances are amazing!
There are two restaurants at Tin City – Pincher’s and the Riverwalk. Great places for waterfront dining close to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown but we are not big seafood eaters, so we opted to head to 5th Avenue to try out a new-to-us restaurant.
We drove over to 5th Avenue South – this is where all the fun restaurants and shops are and if you walk far enough west, you will hit the beach!
PS. Fifth Avenue is an easy walk from the hotel, just that my diva child DOES NOT like to walk!
Baby girl and I ate at Hob Nob Kitchen + Bar and it was so good! I ordered three apps, a delicious mojito, and baby girl had bucatini (thick spaghetti). She was raving about it – she said, “Mom the butter here is so good”. Plus, we sat outside, the perfect place to people watch, and the service was excellent. We had to go indoors to use the restroom and the inside was huge and looked really nice.
After dinner, we walked around 5th Avenue. We were so stuffed we even skipped a trip to Kilwin’s (the best ice cream in SW FL) and drove back to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown to unwind and relax. I was also glad to have a fridge in the room since I could not finish all that I ordered at Hob Nob and could keep my leftovers for the next day.
Baby girl and I watched some TV – yes, we love watching HGTV together! Before we knew it, it was time for bed.
I personally slept great at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown. I woke up early, as usual, and made myself a delicious cup of coffee in the in-room Keurig machine. Baby girl likes to sleep in, and I love these quiet moments in the morning. Having a separate bedroom is such a plus on mornings like these!
Around 8:30, baby girl and I headed to the lobby to check out the grab and go breakfast options. I was a little nervous the choices would be limited, but the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown nailed it!
Baby girl had cereal, and I had yogurt and oatmeal. There were individual cups of oatmeal, and hot water available for tea. Coffee and water were available for self-service. With the grab n go breakfast, we were plenty full and ready to start our day.
After breakfast, we decided to hit the pool one more time before the 11am check out. We swam for an hour and enjoyed spending time in the warm Florida sunshine. After a quick shower and a contactless checkout, it was sadly time to leave the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown.
As the last part of our mother/daughter getaway, we headed down to Third Street South to have lunch at Jane’s Café on 3rd. I had been wanting to try this restaurant all summer, and I knew this would be a fun place to go with baby girl. If you are in this part of south Naples, definitely check out Jane’s for breakfast or lunch!
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown was the perfect spot for our mother/daughter getaway. This is also a great property for your next family vacation, girlfriends’ getaway, corporate travel or wedding block. I love visiting SW Florida, but honestly, things here can be expensive. Finding a great place to stay, at a great price point is not easy, but if you stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Naples Downtown, you will only feel like you paid a lot!

Hi Iris – the beach is about a 5-10 minute drive. Too far to walk, but a quick drive!
